【摘要】:Augeranalysisisusedtodeterminetheelementalcompositionofthefirstseveralatomiclayers,typically1to5nmthick,ofaspecimensurface.Inconjunctionwithinertgasionsputtering,itisusedtodeterminethesputterdepthprofiletoadepthofafewmicrometres.Thespecimenisnormallyasolidconductor,semiconductor,orinsulator.Forinsulators,provisionsmayberequiredforcontrolofchargeaccumulationatthesurface(seeGuideE1523).Typicalapplicationsincludetheanalysisofsurfacecontaminants,thinfilmdepositsorsegregatedoverlayersonmetallicoralloysubstrates.Thespecimentopographymayvaryfromasmooth,polishedspecimentoaroughfracturesurface.Augeranalysisofspecimenswithvolatilespeciesthatevaporateintheultra-highvacuumenvironmentoftheAugerchamberandsubstanceswhicharesusceptibletoelectronorX-raybeamdamage,suchasorganiccompounds,mayrequirespecialtechniquesnotcoveredherein.(SeeGuideE983.)1.1ThispracticeoutlinesthenecessarystepsfortheidentificationofelementsinagivenAugerspectrumobtainedusingconventionalelectronspectrometers.Spectradisplayedaseithertheelectronenergydistribution(directspectrum)orthefirstderivativeoftheelectronenergydistributionareconsidered.1.2ThispracticeappliestoAugerspectrageneratedbyelectronorX-raybombardmentofthespecimensurfaceandcanbeextendedtospectrageneratedbyothermethodssuchasionbombardment.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
