【摘要】:Thecastingprocesshasdemonstratedradiographicsimilaritiesbetweeninternaldiscontinuitiesforductilecastironandcaststeeltotheextentthatthereferenceradiographsforsteelcastingsareapplicable.Theexactapplicationandusageofdiscontinuityclassificationscontainedwithinsteelcastingreferenceradiographsmust,however,giveconsiderationtothedifferencesinmaterialpropertiesbetweencaststeelandductilecastiron.Insomeapplications,referenceradiographsforsteelcastingsmaynotbeentirelyapplicabletoductilecastironmaterialdependentupondesignorotherusagecriteria.Whenemployingsteelcastingreferenceradiographstoevaluateductileironcastings,theapplicableE446,E186,orE280steelcastingwrittenstandardshallalsobeusedforspecificguidanceandevaluationprocedures.Thesereferenceradiographsareintendedasabasisfromwhichmanufacturersandpurchasersmay,bymutualagreement,selectparticulardiscontinuityclassestoserveasstandardsrepresentingminimumlevelsofacceptability.Referenceradiographsrepresentedbythesesteelcastingstandardsmaybeused,asagreeduponinapurchasersupplieragreement,forradiationenergylevels,thicknessesorbothoutsidetherangeofthesestandardswhendeterminedapplicableforthecastingserviceapplication1.1ThisstandardextendstheapplicationofsteelcastingreferenceradiographsE446,E186,andE280toductileironcastingswhendeterminedappropriateforspecificapplications(seeSection4).1.2ThereferenceradiographfilmsareanadjuncttoE446,E186,orE280,andmustbepurchasedseparatelyfromASTMInternational,ifneeded(see2.1).Categoriesandseveritylevelsforeachdiscontinuitytyperepresentedbythesereferenceradiographsaredescribedwithineachapplicablestandardabove.Note18212;ThebasisofapplicationforthesereferenceradiographsrequiresapriorpurchasersupplieragreementofradiographicexaminationattributesandclassificationcriterionasdescribedinSections4,5,and6ofthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
